The question our customers ask most often is not ‘which scent’ but ‘how much do I use’. Here is a simple dosing chart that applies to Essentia Nature laundry perfumes; for other brands, check the instructions on the packaging.

Note: one full cap of an Essentia Nature bottle holds approximately 10 ml. The exact dose is stated on the label of each product.
Where to pour it
Into the fabric softener compartment: the one marked with a flower or a star, usually the smallest of the three. The washing machine releases it automatically during the final rinse, once the detergent has already been washed out. That is exactly why the scent stays on the laundry instead of draining away with the dirty water.
If you also use fabric softener, you can add both to the same compartment. If you use washing tablets or laundry sheets without fabric softener, the laundry perfume still goes into the fabric softener compartment, not into the drum.
Hand washing
- Wash the laundry as usual and rinse it.
- Add 2–3 ml of perfume (per 5 litres of water) to the final clean rinse water and stir.
- Soak the laundry for 3–5 minutes, then wring it out and hang it up. Do not rinse again.
How many washes do you get from one bottle?
- 20 ml sample: 2 to 4 washes (ideal for trying out a scent)
- 50 ml: 5 to 10 washes
- 250 ml: 25 to 50 washes (≈ 1–2 months for a family of four)
- 500 ml: 50 to 100 washes (the lowest cost per wash)
At the standard dose of 10 ml, one scented wash from the 250 ml bottle costs less than 0,60 €.
Common dosing mistakes
- Too much perfume. The scent is overpowering straight after washing, yet it does not last any longer. Stick to the chart.
- Dosing into the drum. The perfume is washed out together with the detergent. Always use the fabric softener compartment.
- Slow drying in a closed room. The scent lasts longest when the laundry dries quickly, either in the open air or in a tumble dryer.
- Mixing strong fragrances. If you use a heavily scented detergent, choose a laundry perfume from the same scent family (fresh, floral, warm).

Frequently asked questions
